Fusion Discussion / John McLaughlin, Jimmy Herring Tour
« on: February 05, 2017, 08:34:48 PM »
I picked up three tickets Friday at 10am, when they went on sale, for December 8 at Warfield Theater in San Francisco.
Two lucky members of this forum are attending with me. I'm very excited, of course. They will be doing separate sets with
their own bands, then a set together, playing some MO material!
I'm upset that I bought tickets when they went on sale and got Loge tickets. You can get tickets in the orchestra if you want to
pay between $200-$400 from a re seller, depending on how close you want to be. Disgusting!

He's touring with his Atlantic years band. How excited am I? Damn excited! Tickets go on sale this Friday 10am for the show in San Francisco
at Regency Ballroom on June 4. Tickets are from $29 to $54. Got to get the best ticket and sit with a huge smile on my face up front!

Big Gamalon fan. RIP Ted.

What a great concert! He did a mix of Genesis songs and his own material. I loved all of it. Done without Phil Collins singing, the Genesis songs took on new life. His guitar playing is terrific, as witnessed on his latest, Go! Even Shock The Monkey, a song I never enjoyed, done instrumentally was fine. Kostia played some killer solos on piano. Bass player and drummer took a few solos as well. My only minor complaint was the drummer's snare sound. Freeway Jam was the last song before the encore. I hope he returns to Yoshi's soon.

Introductions & other topics / Kai Eckhardt loves America!
« on: January 03, 2014, 10:52:52 AM »
I caught a bit of Desert Island Jazz on KCSM in the car this morning.  Kai talked about his prior career in diving, and how sometimes he would land wrong. It hurt a lot, he said, which is partly how he got into music. Wrong notes don't hurt nearly as much, Kai said. He also said there were some Nazi diving instructors along the way, which didn't help. The song I heard him introduce as a Desert Island Disc out of his list of 10 was Horse With No Name by America! Not what I would have imagined. He said it relaxes him and it signifies the way America should be, riding along on a horse with no name in the desert.  :)

No, not the Ponty album (though they do have a violinist). Roy Vogt, the bassist, posted a link to the full album from 77 on the Alembic page on Facebook.

If it has been up for awhile, I had no idea.

Introductions & other topics / John Waters Live

This would be extremely off topic. I don't know if he's touring, but John Waters is doing a spoken word performance or whatever you want to call it on William Burroughs called This Filthy World. Now that's fusion!

Kim Dotcom is back. This time around the user will have his or her files encrypted and only that person will know what's on the site.
Will that make it anymore legal? Hmm.
